Gilbert T. Rowe Distinguished Professor of Theology
Duke University
Norman Wirzba is a theologian, philosopher, and humanities scholar but grew up farming in southern Alberta, Canada. He has long been preoccupied with the question of how human beings can live well and beautifully in this world. He brings to his research and writing insights from agrarian practices of food production and home construction, and carries an abiding interest in how landed life informs our thinking of what it means to be human. He is currently the Gilbert T. Rowe Distinguished Professor of Theology at Duke University. He is the author of multiple books, including Love's Braided Dance: Hope in a Time of Crisis, Agrarian Spirit: Cultivating Faith, Community, and the Land, and This Sacred Life: Humanity's Place in a Wounded World. In his spare time he likes to cook, bake, play guitar, and make things with wood.
