Welcome to the McDonald Centre Podcast, an occasional series featuring recordings of lectures, conversations, and public events hosted by the McDonald Centre for Theology, Ethics, and Public Life at the University of Oxford. Rooted in the Christian traditions of moral and political theology, the McDonald Centre works at the intersection of the academy, the church, and wider society to explore what it means to build more just, generous, and democratic forms of common life. Through interdisciplinary research, public conversation, and collaborative partnerships, we seek to address some of the most pressing questions of our time, particularly those that challenge and change on our understanding of what it means to be human. A particular focus of our work is Christian humanism: its history, its contemporary significance, and its potential to foster dialogue, solidarity, and a renewed vision of human dignity and the common good. Across our lectures, seminars, and events, we bring together scholars, church and civic leaders, as well as public thinkers to examine how Christian theology can illuminate the moral and political questions shaping our shared life today. We hope these recordings will introduce you to the Centre's work and invite you into these vital and important conversations.
