Centre Director, Luke Bretherton was a panel speaker for The Veritas Forum in Oxford exploring one of the defining questions of public life today: how should we understand and use power? He was joined by Tom Simpson, Alfred Landecker Professor of Values & Public Policy, the Blavatnik School of Government, Oxford and Dinesha Samararatne, Department of Public & International Law, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and a Visiting Fellow at All Souls, Oxford for a rich, interdisciplinary conversation. Drawing on community organising and Scripture, Bretherton contrasted different theological visions of power and leadership to set out a constructive account of relational power (power with) as a counter to dominatory forms of unilateral power (power over).
